gecko bookends - bronze sculpture

Description

Dimension:
Height 22cm (8.6in), length together 32cm (12.5in)

This is my second bronze inspired by my visits to the Seychelle Islands. The coco de mer palm tree produces the largest fruit in the world, a double coconut. It takes 7 years to mature. A small green gecko lives in symbiosis with these trees taking the pollen from the flowers on the male palms to the developing fruits on the female trees. These two living organisms dependent on each other, and only found in the Seychelles are portrayed in this bronze.
Written on the spine is FLORA OF THE SEYCHELLE ISLANDS/FAUNA OF THE SEYCHELLE ISLANDS.

Edition of twelve.
