My drawings have many reasons for existing.
They serve to gather information. The type of information recorded from life, memory or a fleeting moment can range from loose, general to detailed, finished notes. Whichever way, they serve as the necessary first thought processes which may or may not lead to other finished art works. They have a quality of their own and give insight into the artist's thinking. I use all sorts of drawing tools; charcoal, different hardnesses of pencils, red chalk, white chalk (gesso), black pastel, and black and white inks, on white paper and very often on a toned paper.
