This commissioned piece resides in the formal garden of a Tuscan villa and was inspired by Dürer's famous 1505 watercolour, to which I gratefully acknowledge a large debt.
The ‘oak-tree bark’ is entirely of bronze, but with a grey-green patina.
The Stag beetle is Europe’s largest beetle.
