The dispute - oil painting

Description

Dimension: 130 x 160 cm

Oil on canvas
This is my largest oil painting so far. The two male swans (or cobs) both had nesting females to protect, but in order to reach the sea and food each day, one male had to negotiate the territory of the other cob. Swans are only aggressive if they have young or a nest site they feel is being threatened. I found that both the adults soon got used to me regularly sitting quietly and I could work making studies quite close to their nest sites.

This painting is shown in my catalogue "Light on White" (Publications).
